In the summer of 2019, Erin and Sydney (the Jenkins' oldest daughter) went on a mission trip that was lifechanging.
As a result of the connections and experiences that came from this trip, Jenkins Group partners with Kids Alive Peru, specifically focused in Manchay.
This is such an important organization to us, and we hope that we can share our experience with you.
We went with 11 teens and a few adult chaperones from our church youth group. We then partnered with a Peruvian group of youth living at the Juniper Tree home in Lima, who had planned their own mission trip to Pucallpa. We worked together, despite the fact that most of us were not bilingual, to plan and run a VBS for the local children in Pucallpa.
KidsAlive is a nonprofit organization that is focused on helping orphans or children who are in unsafe situations. They focus on strengthening families and when that is not possible, they provide healthy family-style homes for children.
A portion of every closing goes directly to the Manchay Oasis Center, which helps the most impoverished children in Peru.
The Oasis Center is located in Manchay, a very poor area in Peru. It's mission is to help struggling families, specifically single mothers. It provides education and reliable meals for the children who attend and support for the parents who are involved with the Center.
